- Butkus Deck 20 photos They were happy with the size and shape of the existing deck and just wanted it replaced. We replaced it, and in the process brought it up to current building codes, and with that, made a much safer outdoor living space. It was a tight spot to work in, but constraint breeds innovation, and we were able to get through it without issue.
- Byland Deck 16 photos He had lived with the door to nowhere for too long and it was time for a deck. Stairs were not desired and it would have taken precious deck space. A simple treated pine deck with clipped corners to add a little style was the perfect fit for this townhouse.
- Davidson Deck 53 photos The old deck was past its prime, was a little small and needed to be reconfigured a bit to allow more light into the downstairs rooms. The owners were looking for something with very low maintenance while still not breaking the budget. A composite deck with cedar railings using metal balusters was the answer. They also wanted to make good use of the patio beneath, so we installed an under deck drainage system to keep it dry and also provide an attractive and bright ceiling. It all fits very nicely.
- Davis Screened Porch 50 photos Not a lot of room to work with, but we were able to get a good sized screened porch on this house along with a small open deck for grilling. They say that constraints breed creativity and this is a great example of that. With a little creativity we were able to get exactly what the owners wanted. What a great fit!
- Diaz Deck 12 photos They wanted a place to sit and enjoy the front yard. This small deck fit perfectly.
- Drukier Deck 17 photos We made the new deck a little larger, moved it to all one level and deleted the stairs. The tough part about this job was going through the shed to get to the backyard and deck. It all turned out great in the end!
- Dugan Screened Porch 86 photos They had a screened porch, but they didn't use it because it was too far from the house and off the lower level. They had a big open deck, but it was too hard to access. The only door was on the side of the house. We fixed all of that! We added a door where the bay window was and put a screened porch just outside of the kitchen where it would be used all the time. This deck had many things going on: - Composite with hidden fasteners throughout. - Cypress walls and ceiling. - Latticed area underneath with lighting. - Low voltage accent lights everywhere. - A bench with lights beneath. - Cedar railing with metal balusters. It just fit the bill perfectly and this family will be enjoying it for many many years to come.
- Finley Deck and Fence 37 photos The old deck was too small and the fence was falling down. Time for a new larger deck and a much better built fence. We used an engineered beam to eliminate he center post that would have been required with a traditional beam. This helped keep the patio area underneath clear and therefore more usable space. What a difference!
- Greene Re-Deck 23 photos The old deck needed to be replaced. There is a patio underneath that we did not want to disturb and the existing deck size and shape worked well. A re-cover was the answer. Trex Transcend decking with cedar railing along with a little craftsmanship made for a stunning result on this townhouse!
- Harris Gazebo 53 photos The owner wanted a gazebo added to the current deck footprint. This one came with all the good stuff. - Ceiling fan - Accent lights - Trex Transcend with hidden fasteners - Trex Bench What a great outdoor living space in both day and night!
- Hochberg Under Deck 12 photos We completed the deck a year ago. After having a patio put under the deck the owners wanted to give a more finished look to that area. We finished off the drainage system for the entire area including under the stairs. This gave a nice bright white look to the entire space. We wrapped the beam and posts in white PVC and added three nice coach lights with a dimmer to complete the new space. It is a very nice place to relax.
- Jewell Screened Porch 56 photos What a change! Before we got there, there was not a way out of the second floor on the rear of house. Now there is a screened porch with an open deck that stretches the length of the house with a set of French doors from the dining room as well as a sliding door from the master bedroom. What a different place this house has become!
- Kalb Deck 18 photos The old deck was, well, old. It was also not safe because the attachment to the house was not done correctly when it was originally built. After noticing the old deck was pulling away from the house the owner called Whitmer Decks for an inspection. He wanted the tenants to have a safe deck. He also took the opportunity to provide them with a little larger deck. A good landlord appreciates good tenants! We had to do a little extra work because of the house framing, or lack there of, but the result is much better than an additional beam.
- Kose Screened Porch 62 photos They had done without an outdoor living space for quite a few years and it was time to make a change… And what a change! This screened porch and open deck combination includes many upgrades and make a fine addition to the house and back yard. There is a future patio planned that will finish the underside off nicely.
- Leon Deck 20 photos They were happy with the size and layout of the old deck. It just needed replaced. The new one was upgraded to included metal balusters.
- Llewellyn Gazebo Deck 44 photos The old deck was ready to go. The owner wanted a little more space and a little different configuration. • A gazebo to provide shade • Stairs moved to the other side to be closer to walk out • Larger space to accommodate the family The design we worked out fit the bill and was a perfect fit for this house and the property.
- Morris Deck and Shed 55 photos They were happy with basic size and layout of the old deck. With a few tweaks we were able to bring the new deck up to Whitmer Decks standards. The stairs were changed to have a landing and provide a better traffic pattern to the lower door and the future patio. The railing is now made of cedar and features powder coated aluminum balusters. The shed has a concrete floor and is fully powered up with lights and outlets. The privacy wall is cedar and has spaces for hanging plants.
- Nagatani Deck 27 photos The old deck was done, and it was too small to be useful for anything other than a grille. The yard has a pretty good slope so making the deck larger made a lot of sense for getting more usable space. This deck has Trex decking along with a cedar railing with metal balusters. We also put stone ground cover underneath to stabilize the soil. A bench was added to the low end to open things up and create some seating. Lights on the rail posts and under the bench will make for a good looking deck when the sun goes down as well.
- Olson Ceiling and Portico Rail 11 photos We built a screened porch and open deck earlier in the year. The owners wanted a more finished look to the ceiling in the hot tub area. they also wanted to replace the failing railing over the front portico. Not a problem. Whitmer Decks came in and took care of both items. It is a nice finishing touch to an already great outdoor living space.
- Olson Screened Porch 61 photos This screened porch and deck turned out to be a great project and fits the space available perfectly. The old deck was built very low because of how the house was constructed. Because of this you were forced to step down from the house to the deck and then further to the lower level. It made for a very disconnected experience. It also made the ceiling very low for the area underneath. The hot tub was put in around the corner on the other side of the chimney and because it was right up against the house there was not room for a cover lift. This made it tough to get the cover on and off the tub. We fixed all that by bringing the deck and screened porch up to the level of the door from the house. Now the outdoor living space is more of an extension of the house. The area underneath has a ceiling that is 24” higher and therefore much brighter. We poured a concrete pad and moved the hot tub to a spot under the screened porch. Not an easy task. An under deck drainage system was installed to keep the tub area dry. Other features include: - Cedar railing with metal balusters. - Trax Transcend decking. - Hidden fasteners for the decking. - Post and beam lighting. - Beaded cypress ceiling and walls in the screened porch. - Lattice storage area underneath. I believe this space will be used much more than the old one. Enjoy!
- Revere Lower Deck 15 photos We built their upper deck last year and this year we are back to take car of the lower one. What a wonderful oasis of a backyard this has become.
- Roberts Screened Porch 54 photos This house has a great view of the creek and woods behind and the owners wanted a way to enjoy those great features. The current deck just was not doing the job. The owners wanted something that would help with the constant sunlight and the bugs. A screened porch with an open deck for grilling and lounging was the perfect solution. We had to get a little creative in the design to get an appropriate size screened porch (19x12) along with a good sized deck (16x12). Moving the open deck down allowed the railings and grille to be moved down out of site from the screened porch to maintain the view of the creek. It also helps break up the stairs into two short flights instead of a single long flight. It all fit very well with the house and the results speak for themselves!
- Spicer Screened Porch 49 photos A large snow storm took their old deck down a few years back and the owners have been trying to determine what would work best in the space. After talking about how they would use the new outdoor living structure and taking a good look at the beautiful setting the design you see is what we came up with. It all fits very well with the house and the surround.
- Waters Front Porch 28 photos The front porch floor and lattice skirt had been there long enough and it was time for an upgrade. We took out the old wood floor and replaced it with Azek Porch Plank in slate grey. We also replaced all the lower trim and lattice with PVC trim and vinyl lattice. The porch now look beautiful and will be ultra-low maintenance. We did some other misc. stuff as well: - Replace a porch post - Replaced a porch rail sections - Added footing under the hot tub deck - Replaced a set of stairs on the rear deck - Leveled a landing and added a new beam and posts under it What a great turn-out that will be enjoyed for years to com
